Job description :
Working in the Data Base expertise section of the hosting centre, the engineer's main role will be the administration, consistency, quality and security of database management systems in non-production, qualification, pre-production and production environments.
The Database expertise section supports the operations teams when applications are put into production (initial and major functional or technical upgrades) and provides level 2 support.
Mission
Main activities:
As a Database Engineer, your tasks will include :
- Database administration and maintenance Management of almost 300 instances (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MongoDB).
- Creation and sizing of databases database creation and optimal server sizing.
- Guaranteeing data performance and quality : maintaining and continuously improving performance (optimising processing, queries, parameterisation), tuning and automating processes.
- Performance monitoring Access statistics: analysis of access statistics to objects in the database to ensure appropriate tuning.
- Scalability management : volume monitoring and management of storage and memory aspects for database management systems (DBMS).
- Managing access authorisations and security User access administration and data security management in collaboration with the security engineer.
- Migrations and updates : managing version migrations, applying the necessary updates and patches.
- Definition of quality standards Quality control: drawing up and monitoring performance indicators to guarantee the quality of services provided.
- Supervision and analysis of incidents : management of supervision tools and study of incidents to identify their causes and impact.
- Licence management Monitoring and management of licences for the tools used.
- Data recovery and service continuity disaster recovery: management of procedures for recovering and restoring databases following a serious incident (disaster recovery).
- Technical support This includes assistance for developers and operating teams, level 2 support for users and management of intervention procedures to resolve problems.
- Technology watch and monitoring of developments Updating the performance and specific features of the databases in line with the company's needs. Monitoring database version upgrades and testing as part of migrations or technological upgrades.
- Updating documentation : regular updating of technical documentation on the structure of the databases and operating procedures.
